1. Vocabulary Building
New Words:
holiday, travel, visit, exciting, beach, museum, cousin, journey, enjoy, adventure
Activity:
Teacher pronounces each word clearly and explains meaning.
Pupils repeat the words and use them in simple sentences.
Examples:
We went on a holiday to Lagos.
I had an exciting time at the beach.
My cousin came to visit us.
2. Oral and Writing Comprehension
Passage (Oral or Written):
Last holiday, Amaka visited her grandmother in the village. She helped to cook, clean, and play with her cousins. One day, they went to the river. Amaka enjoyed the fresh air and the beautiful trees. She said it was the best holiday ever.
Comprehension Questions:
Who did Amaka visit?
Where did she go?
What did she do at the village?
What did she enjoy?
Did she like her holiday?
Pupil Activities:
Pupils listen to or read the passage.
Pupils answer questions orally and in writing.
3. Grammar – Past Continuous Tense
Definition:
The past continuous tense is used to show an action that was happening at a particular time in the past.
Structure:
Subject + was/were + verb-ing
Examples:
I was reading a book yesterday.
They were playing football at 5 p.m.
She was cooking when I came in.
We were watching a movie during the rain.
Singular subjects use was (I, he, she, it).
Plural subjects use were (you, we, they).
Practice:
Convert these into past continuous:
He (play) football. → He was playing football.
They (read) a book. → They were reading a book.
4. Writing – “How I Spent My Last Holiday”
Guidelines:
Start with where you went.
Say who you went with.
Say what you did.
Mention what you enjoyed most.
End with how you felt.Example Composition:
Last holiday, I went to Abuja with my family. We stayed at my uncle’s house. Every day, we went out to visit different places. I saw a zoo and took pictures of animals. We also went to a shopping mall. I enjoyed eating ice cream and spending time with my cousins. I had a lot of fun and I want to go again.
Pupil Task:
Pupils write their own short paragraph (5–7 sentences) using the structure above.
